The Power Of Kindness

Can you recall a time somebody was kind to you? Now change the scenario and think of a time you were kind to another person? Call to mind their reaction and how you responded. Move into your heart and notice the feelings there. Kindness affects the user and the experiencer — leaving a lasting impression on both.

Kindness can mean different things to different people. The meaning is in how YOU choose to show it. Be it through empathy, acceptance, kind gestures, thoughtfulness, the possibilities are entirely up to you. Kindness might look like being helpful or showing empathy. It may mean doing nice things without expecting nice things in return.

Kindness is a simple concept, yet so very impactful. It can make the world a better place by ending suffering at the hands of war, hunger, human rights violations, and injustice. It has the power to drastically improve our own well-being as well as that of our families, friends, acquaintances, and strangers. The very act of expressing graciousness to one another can make us more empathetic of other people’s hardships.  Within the workforce, kindness towards one another can inspire employees to be more productive and make businesses more profitable. And within our communities, kindness contributes to safer and cleaner schools and neighborhoods.

Pay attention to how kindness has the ability to impact your life. Observe those moments when someone does something unexpectedly kind for you. How frequently does it happen? How does it make you feel? Does it transform your outlook on the day? We challenge you to commit a random act of kindness. Spend two minutes a day doing it for just three weeks. How does it make you feel? How does it make your recipients feel?

KINDNESS: THE ESSENTIALS

  • The expression ‘Be kind to your enemies’ sums up the very nature of kindness. It acts as a reminder that everyone is part of the same world and, as such, deserves to be treated with kindness and compassion.
  • Even the smallest act of kindness can have a profound effect. ‘No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.’ Think about a time when you received a warm smile from a stranger when you were feeling low, or someone helped you to carry your heavy luggage, rather than watch you struggle. Both have transformed a negative into something positive.
  • Kindness is contagious. When people are kind to each other, a sort of alchemy flows between them. It’s a win-win because the person giving and the person receiving both enjoy a feel-good buzz.
  • Kindness is a willingness to full-heartedly celebrate someone else’s successes – to be openly happy for the other person. It’s a wonderful way to lead a more positive life and get more in return.
  • Practising kindness on a daily basis can transform your view of the world. Those little exchanges all add up, helping to create feelings of trust and safety. We’re all in this together and can help each other along the way.
  • The heart-opening benefits of kindness will ripple through all aspects of your life. You’ll be more mindful of everyone around you and will experience greater feelings of contentment and ease.

In this fast pace world, kindness and compassion take a back seat to selfies, self-interest and expendable human interactions. Happiness researcher Sean Achor demonstrated through his extensive research that if you perform random acts of kindness for two minutes a day for twenty-one days, you can actually retrain your brain to be more positive.

Every act of kindness creates a ripple effect that spreads with no end in sight. Let’s run with it!. Call/WhatsApp Ms Seema Agarwal: +91 98205 76682
